IJS provides professional, objective jewellery valuations for private clients, insurers, claims teams, estates and the professionals who advise them.
Every instruction begins with careful examination. Items are described accurately, assessed on their merits and documented in a form that holds up when it is relied upon — in an insurance schedule, during a claim, or in the administration of an estate.
Because the practice is independent, there is nothing to sell alongside the opinion. Work is handled personally, quietly and with the attention each piece warrants.

A valuation is only as good as the examination behind it. Each item is inspected in hand: metals and marks noted, mountings reviewed, gemstones assessed and measurements taken.
Where a replacement value is relevant, it is informed by current market conditions and comparable manufacture rather than a general estimate. Findings are recorded in clear written documentation that describes exactly what was seen.
Throughout, the judgement applied is independent and professional. Nothing is overstated, and nothing material is left out.

Appointments
Based in Melkbosstrand.
The practice is based in Melkbosstrand and works with clients across Cape Town and nationwide. Appointments are arranged by prior agreement, at a time and place that suits the circumstances.
Where it is appropriate — for larger collections, estate matters or clients who would prefer items not to travel — on-site appointments can be discussed. Nationwide coverage is considered on request.
